Guardian For Heroes proudly serves those who have served us. On Friday, July 28, 2017 it was an honor to present @adaptivetraingfoundation a check to fully fund a 6-month training program for Michael Stephens, a veteran who while serving received a life changing traumatic brain injury. His injury is slowly causing permanent blindness as well as drastically lowering the ability to maintain balance. Michael’s training is preparing him to compete as a cyclist in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Through donations like yours, we hope that a physical fitness plan will give him the ability to better control his balance through core strength and potentially curb his subsiding vision.

Are the services offered by Guardian for Heroes offered in the Clearwater Florida area and does the Veteran have to have a documented Injury to receive services? Does the Vet who is going to the VA for Psychiatric and Therapist treat qualify for services as well?
Thanks for the information.
Charles,
First, I apologize for not getting back with you sooner. Our new system has had a couple of issues and I am just now seeing your note.
Our general guidelines are to serve Veterans who were in combat and were either injured physically or experienced something that had a significant affect on them. Each Nomination is evaluated individually on its merits. We gather information from the Veteran, review it, and then our Board of Directors reviews it. I would encourage you to complete a Nomination Form on our website at http://www.guardianforheroes.org.

Can I get in touch with someone who could answer some questions I have about the nominating a veteran for gym membership?
Thank you

I would love to get together for a meet. As the Founder/Chairman of K9’s For Freedom & Independence, we are right up the road from Addison. We work with the Steven A Cohen Clinic and get referrals from them.
